De Martin D-45 is een van de meest weelderige gitaarmodellen ooit gebouwd. Het eerste exemplaar werd in de jaren dertig gemaakt en tot op de dag van vandaag is het nog steeds een van de meest indrukwekkende modellen in het Martin-assortiment. Als absolute topmodel is de D-45 rijkelijk versierd met met de hand ingelegde abalone op de top, achterkant, zijkanten én bij de hiel—een waar visueel statement.
Maar het draait zeker niet alleen om uiterlijk. Voor de D-45 gebruikt Martin uitsluitend de allerbeste toonhoutsoorten. Deze dreadnought is opgebouwd uit Oost-Indisch palissander voor de achter- en zijkanten en premium Sitka spruce voor het bovenblad—een klassieke combinatie die garant staat voor een rijke klank en uitstekende projectie. En dan is er nog het 12-snarige karakter van deze gitaar, dat zorgt voor een haast onwerkelijke diepte en schittering.
De klank is overweldigend met diepe bassen, vloeiende middentonen en fonkelende hoge frequenties. Het Sitka spruce bovenblad biedt warmte en focus, met precies de juiste hoeveelheid boventonen. De extra snaren zorgen voor een natuurlijk chorus-effect dat zowel bij rijk akkoordenspel als bij subtiel tokkelen tot zijn recht komt.
