Een vintage Gibson brengt ons bij The Fellowship of Acoustics altijd warme gevoelens naar boven, waarbij de Slope Shoulder-modellen bij iedereen de innerlijke singer-songwriter naar boven brengt. De Southern Jumbo werd in 1942 geïntroduceerd als een luxere uitvoering van de populaire maar eenvoudig uitgevoerde J45. Het model vond zijn plek naast de J45 en J50 in het assortiment van Gibson, en vergaarde zijn roem in de gitaarwereld voornamelijk dankzij van Hank Williams Sr.
De Southern Jumbo was voorzien van Gibson's eersteklas houtsoorten, een 5-laags binding en gespleten parallellogram inleg op de gebonden toets. Het typische Gibson droge houtachtige klankkarakter is natuurlijk onmiskenbaar en alleen te vinden in oude Gibson gitaren. Warm en zacht als hij licht wordt bespeeld, maar kan ook veel punch en projectie leveren bij een stevige slag. Perfect voor alle soorten flatpicking en ritmegitaarspel!
We zijn niet alleen erg onder de indruk van het geluid, maar ook van hoe opvallend mooi deze Southern Jumbo uit de jaren '40 er nog steeds uitziet. Deze Southern Jumbo speelt heerlijk en heeft een prachtig doorleefd geluid dat velen zal boeien!
A vintage Gibson always brings out the warm fuzzies in us at The Fellowship of Acoustics, with the Slope Shoulder models bringing out the inner singer-songwriter in everyone. The Southern Jumbo was introduced in 1942 as a more luxurious version of the popular but simple J45. It found its place alongside the J45 and J50 in Gibson’s range, and gained its fame in the guitar world largely thanks to Hank Williams Sr.
The Southern Jumbo featured Gibson’s premium tonewoods, a 5-ply binding and split parallelogram inlays on the bound fingerboard. The typical Gibson dry woody tonal character is of course unmistakable and only found in old Gibson guitars. Warm and soft when played lightly, but can also deliver plenty of punch and projection when struck firmly. Perfect for all types of flatpicking and rhythm guitar playing!
We are not only very impressed with the sound, but also with how strikingly beautiful this Southern Jumbo from the 1940s still looks. This Southern Jumbo plays wonderfully and has a beautiful lived-in sound that will captivate many!

Der Southern Jumbo war mit Gibsons Premium-Hölzern, einer 5-lagigen Bindung und geteilten Parallelogrammeinlagen auf dem gebundenen Griffbrett ausgestattet. Der typische trockene, holzige Klangcharakter von Gibson ist natürlich unverkennbar und nur bei alten Gibson-Gitarren zu finden. Es ist warm und weich, wenn es leicht gespielt wird, kann aber auch bei festem Anschlag viel Durchschlagskraft und Projektion liefern. Perfekt für alle Arten von Flatpicking und Rhythmusgitarrenspiel!
Wir sind nicht nur vom Klang sehr beeindruckt, sondern auch davon, wie auffallend schön dieser Southern Jumbo aus den 1940er Jahren immer noch aussieht. Dieser Southern Jumbo spielt sich wunderbar und hat einen wunderschönen, lebendigen Klang, der viele faszinieren wird!
