While Atkin has been proving for some time that the brand can build a guitar like no other, the aging process is perhaps the most impressive aspect of Atkin Guitars. The passion with which these instruments were made shines through, and it is difficult not to fall in love with both the sound and the appearance.

Atkin's 000-model heeft dezelfde afmetingen als een OM, maar heeft net als het model waarop het is gebaseerd een iets kortere schaallengte. Dit zorgt voor een veel losser gevoel en geluid, en zorgt voor een vollere klank dan het pittige en heldere Orchestra Model zou doen. Dit maakt de 000 ook een persoonlijke favoriet voor bluesspelers als Eric Clapton, omdat het buigen een stuk eenvoudiger is dan op een OM.
Alister Atkin begon in 2011 met het bakken van zijn toppen met het uitdrukkelijke doel om verbeterde stabiliteit te bereiken. Bakken, of angstaanjagen, vermindert het vochtgehalte en kristalliseert ook de harsen in de korrel, een proces dat jarenlang op natuurlijke wijze plaatsvindt en dat lange tijd werd gezien als de reden waarom vintage gitaren zo geweldig klinken. Atkin heeft de kunst van het bakken van deze topjes zeker onder de knie, en je zou zelfs kunnen zeggen dat het merk er tegenwoordig beroemd om is. Ze gaan zelfs nog een stapje verder en bakken ook al het verstevigingshout, in dit geval Europees rood sparrenhout.
De massief Indisch palissander achter- en zijkanten, gecombineerd met de mahoniehouten hals en gebakken Sitka sparren bovenblad, zorgen voor een resonante, warme, maar ook heldere klank met een krachtige aanval. Door de overtuigende zware veroudering van de nitrolak wekt de gitaar de indruk al tientallen jaren onderweg te zijn, maar niets is minder waar!
De gitaar wordt geleverd met een certificaat van echtheid in een TKL-koffer.

Atkin's 000 model has the same dimensions as an OM, but just like the model it's based on it has a slightly shorter scale length. This provides a much more looser feel and sound, providing a fuller tone than the snappy and bright Orchestra Model would do. This also makes the 000 a personal favourite for blues players like Eric Clapton, as bending is quite a bit easier than on an OM.
Alister Atkin started baking his tops in 2011 with the express purpose of achieving improved stability. Baking, or torrifying, reduces the moisture content and also crystallises the resins within the grain, a process that happens naturally over many years and has long been thought of as a reason vintage guitars sound so great. Atkin has certainly mastered the art of baking these tops, and you might even say the brand is famous for it nowadays. They even take it a little bit further and bake all the bracing wood as well, which is European Red Spruce in this case.
The solid Indian rosewood back and sides, combined with the mahogany neck and baked Sitka spruce top, provide a resonant, warm, but also clear sound with a strong attack. Due to the convincing heavy aging of the nitro lacquer, the guitar gives the impression that it has been on the road for decades, but nothing could be further from the truth!
The guitar is supplied with a certificate of authenticity in a TKL hardshell case.

Das macht die 000 auch zu einem persönlichen Favoriten von Bluesgitarren wie Eric Clapton, da das Bending deutlich einfacher ist als bei einer OM.
Alister Atkin begann 2011 mit dem Brennen seiner Decken, um die Stabilität zu verbessern. Das Brennen oder Torrifizieren reduziert den Feuchtigkeitsgehalt und kristallisiert die Harze in der Maserung. Dieser Prozess läuft über viele Jahre hinweg natürlich ab und gilt seit langem als Grund für den großartigen Klang von Vintage-Gitarren. Atkin hat die Kunst des Brennens dieser Decken zweifellos perfektioniert, und man könnte sogar sagen, die Marke ist heute dafür berühmt. Sie gehen sogar noch einen Schritt weiter und brennen auch das gesamte Verstrebungsholz, in diesem Fall europäische Rotfichte.
Der massive Boden und die Zargen aus indischem Palisander, kombiniert mit dem Mahagonihals und der Decke aus gebackener Sitka-Fichte, sorgen für einen resonanten, warmen und zugleich klaren Klang mit kraftvollem Anschlag. Die überzeugende, starke Alterung des Nitrolacks lässt die Gitarre jahrzehntelang auf Tournee wirken – doch nichts könnte ferner von der Wahrheit sein!
Die Gitarre wird mit Echtheitszertifikat in einem TKL-Hartschalenkoffer geliefert.
