Introduced in 1942 as a replacement for the J35, the J45 has since become one of Gibson's most popular acoustic flattops. Often referred to as ‘The Workhorse,’ this model is a favourite among singer-songwriters, folk artists and rock musicians for its versatility and reliable performance. The warm and woody sound of the older J45s is enchanting, and this 1961 Gibson J45 is a prime example.

De gitaar beschikt over een massief Sitka sparren bovenblad, dat samen met de mahonie achter- en zijkanten zorgt voor een rijke, resonante klank met een uitstekende projectie. Deze J45 is daarnaast voorzien van een palissander belly-up brug met een verstelbaar zadel, en dit model ging daarom ook wel door het leven als J45 ADJ. Dit zadel werd in 1956 als optie aan de Gibson-catalogus toegevoegd, en werd in het bouwjaar van deze J45 standaard.
De afgeronde schouders en het comfortabele C-vormige halsprofiel maken de J45 een plezier om te bespelen. De gitaar is afgewerkt met een Cherry Sunburst finish die niet alleen visueel aantrekkelijk is, maar ook bijdraagt aan de klassieke uitstraling van het instrument. De crèmekleurige binding en rozet zorgen daarbij samen met de grote tortoise slagplaat voor wat visuele aankleding van deze fraaie gitaar.
Deze J45 werd gebouwd in 1961 en heeft door de jaren heen speelsporen en craquelé opgelopen, dus de gitaar is overduidelijk een geliefd instrument geweest gedurende de ruim zes decennia waarin hij actief is geweest. Op het bovenblad zijn twee cracks gerepareerd, waarvan de ene vanuit de brug naar de binding loopt en de andere zich tussen de toets en het klankgat bevindt. De gitaar is verder nog in het bezit van de originele stemmechanieken, en is uitgevoerd met 2,6 mm breed fretdraad.
Met een ingespeelde sound een een doorleefd uiterlijk is deze prachtige vintage J45 zonder twijfel klaar voor een nieuw muzikaal avontuur!

The guitar features a solid Sitka spruce top, which together with the mahogany back and sides provides a rich, resonant sound with excellent projection. This J45 also features a rosewood belly-up bridge with an adjustable saddle, which is why this model also went by the name J45 ADJ. This saddle was added to the Gibson catalogue as an option in 1956, and became standard in the year of construction of this J45.
The rounded shoulders and comfortable C-shaped neck profile make the J45 a pleasure to play. The guitar is finished with a Cherry Sunburst finish that is not only visually appealing, but also contributes to the classic look of the instrument. In addition, the cream-coloured binding and rosette, together with the large tortoise pickguard, provide some visual enhancement to this fine guitar.
This J45 was built in 1961 and has sustained play marks and craquelé over the years, so the guitar has obviously been a much-loved instrument over its six-plus decades of operation. Two cracks have been repaired on the top, one running from the bridge to the binding and the other located between the fingerboard and the soundhole. The guitar also still has the original tuning machines, and is fitted with 2.6 mm wide fret wire.
With a worn-in sound and a weathered appearance, this beautiful vintage J45 is undoubtedly ready for a new musical adventure!

Die Gitarre ist mit einer massiven Sitka-Fichtendecke ausgestattet, die zusammen mit dem Mahagoniboden und den Zargen einen vollen, resonanten Klang mit hervorragender Projektion erzeugt. Diese J45 verfügt auch über einen Palisander-Bauchsteg mit einem verstellbaren Sattel, weshalb dieses Modell auch J45 ADJ genannt wurde. Dieser Sattel wurde 1956 als Option in den Gibson-Katalog aufgenommen und war im Baujahr dieser J45 Standard.
Die abgerundeten Schultern und das komfortable C-förmige Halsprofil machen das Spielen der J45 zu einem Vergnügen. Die Gitarre ist mit einer Cherry-Sunburst-Lackierung versehen, die nicht nur optisch ansprechend ist, sondern auch zum klassischen Look des Instruments beiträgt. Außerdem werten das cremefarbene Binding und die Rosette zusammen mit dem großen Schildpatt-Schlagbrett diese feine Gitarre optisch auf.
Diese J45 wurde 1961 gebaut und hat im Laufe der Jahre Spielspuren und Craquelé erhalten, so dass die Gitarre in den mehr als sechs Jahrzehnten, in denen sie im Einsatz war, offensichtlich ein sehr geliebtes Instrument war. Zwei Risse wurden an der Decke repariert, einer verläuft vom Steg zum Binding, der andere befindet sich zwischen Griffbrett und Schallloch. Die Gitarre hat auch noch die originalen Stimmmechaniken und ist mit 2,6 mm breitem Bunddraht ausgestattet.
Mit einem abgenutzten Klang und einem verwitterten Aussehen ist diese schöne Vintage J45 zweifellos bereit für ein neues musikalisches Abenteuer!
