Gibson Hummingbird Cherry Sunburst 1968

De Hummingbird was bij zijn introductie in 1960 de eerste square shoulder dreadnought van Gibson, en na de J200 het op één na duurste model uit de catalogus. Na het succes van de slope shoulder modellen wilde Gibson de strijd blijven aangaan met Martin, en koost dus voor een vergelijkbaar model. Deze Hummingbird uit 1968 toont nog steeds al zijn flair in volle glorie!

De Hummingbird staat bekend om zijn evenwichtige maar krachtige toon met een warme en mellow bassen en sprankelende hoge tonen, en deze 1968 Hummingbird is een geweldige vertegenwoordiger van die reputatie. Het is een perfecte studiogitaar met die klassieke droge, maar ook dynamische, Gibson klank. 

De glanzende Cherry Sunburst vertoont slechts lichte speelsporen en enkele dings, maar de gitaar is overduidelijk bijzonder goed onderhouden. In het bovenblad is een center seam crack gerepareerd, en ook op de binding zijn enkele kleine scheurtjes te vinden. De gitaar is verder uitzonderlijk schoon, en je moet misschien wel even twee keer kijken om te geloven dat deze Hummingbird écht al 56 jaar oud is!

At its introduction in 1960, the Hummingbird was Gibson's first square shoulder dreadnought, and the second most expensive model in the catalogue after the J200. After the success of the slope shoulder models, Gibson wanted to continue competing with Martin, and so chose a similar model. This 1968 Hummingbird still shows all its flair in all its glory!


The Hummingbird is known for its balanced yet powerful tone with warm and mellow basses and sparkling highs, and this 1968 Hummingbird is a great representative of that reputation. It is a perfect studio guitar with that classic dry, but also dynamic, Gibson sound.


The glossy Cherry Sunburst shows only light playing marks and a few dings, but the guitar has obviously been extremely well maintained. A centre seam crack in the top has been repaired, and a few small cracks can also be found on the binding. Otherwise, the guitar is exceptionally clean, and you may have to look twice to believe that this Hummingbird really is 56 years old!

Nach dem Erfolg der Modelle mit schräger Schulter wollte Gibson weiterhin mit Martin konkurrieren und wählte daher ein ähnliches Modell. Diese Hummingbird von 1968 zeigt noch immer ihr ganzes Flair in all ihrer Pracht!


Die Hummingbird ist bekannt für ihren ausgewogenen und doch kraftvollen Ton mit warmen und weichen Bässen und funkelnden Höhen, und diese 1968er Hummingbird ist ein großartiger Vertreter dieses Rufs. Sie ist eine perfekte Studiogitarre mit dem klassischen trockenen, aber auch dynamischen Gibson-Sound.


Die glänzende Cherry Sunburst weist nur leichte Spielspuren und ein paar Dellen auf, aber die Gitarre wurde offensichtlich sehr gut gepflegt. Ein Mittelfalzriss in der Decke wurde repariert, und auch am Binding sind ein paar kleine Risse zu finden. Ansonsten ist die Gitarre außergewöhnlich sauber, und man muss schon zweimal hinschauen, um zu glauben, dass diese Hummingbird wirklich 56 Jahre alt ist!
