Dit model werd oorspronkelijk in 1977 in opdracht van de Mandolin Brothers ontwikkeld als een onofficiële reïssue van een 1934 D28. Hoewel deze gitaren door de Martin-fabriek eenvoudigweg als "Custom" werden gelabeld, staan ze bekend als Custom 15s. Ze waren zo populair dat andere dealers Martin vroegen om ze ook aan te mogen bieden. De Custom 15 werd geproduceerd tot begin jaren '90, wat uiteindelijk leidde tot de officiële Martin reïssue HD-28VR in 1996.
Deze prachtige Custom 15 D28 biedt alles wat gitaristen zo waarderen in een vintage Martin: de krachtige combinatie van een massief Indisch palissander klankkast met een responsief Sitka sparren bovenblad, versterkt door scalloped X-bracing. De traditionele herringbone purfling, grained ivoroid binding en de elegante abalone Diamonds & Squares inleg op de ebbenhouten toets maken dit instrument net zo mooi om te zien als om te horen. Het speelgemak van de mahonie V-hals, de onmiskenbare volle klank met rijke bassen en sprankelende hoge tonen, en de geweldige projectie maken deze gitaar tot een juweeltje voor zowel verzamelaars als muzikanten.
Deze Martin heeft inmiddels de vintage status bereikt, en verkeert in zeer goede conditie. De gitaar heeft op het bovenblad speelsporen en meerdere dings verzameld, waarvan de grootste zich bij de brug bevindt. Verder zijn ook op de achterzijde van de hals speelsporen te vinden, en op de achterzijde van de klankkast is een klein deel van de lak verkleurd door het gebruik van een standaard. Tenslotte is de brug opnieuw gelijmd.
Deze Martin wordt met TFOA paspoort en LR Baggs M1 geleverd in een TKL hardshell koffer.
This model was originally developed in 1977 by order of the Mandolin Brothers as an unofficial reissue of a 1934 D28. Although these guitars were simply labeled "Custom" by the Martin factory, they are known as Custom 15s. They were so popular that other dealers asked Martin to offer them as well. The Custom 15 was produced until the early 1990s, eventually leading to the official Martin reissue HD-28VR in 1996.
This beautiful Custom 15 D28 offers everything guitarists love about a vintage Martin: the powerful combination of a solid Indian rosewood back and sides with a responsive Sitka spruce top, reinforced by scalloped X-bracing. The traditional herringbone purfling, grained ivoroid binding and the elegant abalone Diamonds & Squares inlay on the ebony fingerboard make this instrument as beautiful to look at as it is to hear. The ease of play of the mahogany V-neck, the unmistakable full sound with rich bass and sparkling highs, and the great projection make this guitar a gem for collectors and musicians alike.
This Martin has now achieved vintage status, and is in very good condition. The guitar has collected playwear and several dings on the top, the largest of which is at the bridge. Furthermore, there are also playwear on the back of the neck, and on the back of the sound box a small part of the lacquer has discoloured due to the use of a stand. Finally, the bridge was re-glued.
This Martin comes with TFOA passport and LR Baggs M1 in a TKL hardshell case.
Dieses Modell wurde ursprünglich 1977 auf Anfrage der Mandolin Brothers als inoffizielle Neuauflage eines D28 von 1934 entwickelt. Obwohl diese Gitarren von der Martin-Fabrik einfach als „Custom“ gekennzeichnet wurden, sind sie als Custom 15 bekannt. Sie waren so beliebt, dass andere Händler Martin fragten, ob sie sie auch anbieten könnten. Der Custom 15 wurde bis in die frühen 1990er Jahre produziert, was schließlich 1996 zur offiziellen Martin-Neuauflage des HD-28VR führte.
Diese wunderschöne Custom 15 D28 bietet alles, was Gitarristen an einer Vintage-Martin lieben: die kraftvolle Kombination aus Boden und Zargen aus massivem indischem Palisander mit einer ansprechenden Decke aus Sitka-Fichte, verstärkt durch eine gewellte X-Verstrebung. Die traditionelle Fischgräten-Einlage, die gemaserte Elfenbein-Bindung und die elegante Abalone-Einlage „Diamonds & Squares“ auf dem Ebenholzgriffbrett machen dieses Instrument optisch und akustisch ebenso schön. Die leichte Bespielbarkeit des Mahagoni-V-Halses, der unverwechselbare volle Ton mit satten Bässen und funkelnden Höhen sowie die großartige Projektion machen diese Gitarre zu einem Juwel für Sammler und Musiker gleichermaßen.
Diese Martin hat mittlerweile Vintage-Status erreicht und ist in sehr gutem Zustand. Die Gitarre weist Spielspuren und mehrere Dellen auf der Oberseite auf, die größte davon befindet sich in der Nähe des Stegs. Des Weiteren sind Spielspuren auf der Halsrückseite vorhanden und ein kleiner Teil des Lacks auf der Rückseite des Resonanzkörpers hat sich durch die Verwendung eines Ständers verfärbt. Abschließend wurde die Brücke neu verklebt.
Dieser Martin wird mit TFOA-Pass und LR Baggs M1 in einem TKL-Hartschalenkoffer geliefert.
