Gibson J45 Sunburst 1966
Geïntroduceerd in 1942 als vervanging voor de J35, is de J45 sindsdien een van Gibson's meest populaire akoestische flattops geworden. De J45 verwierf een reputatie als een 'werkpaard' gitaar en werd omarmd vanwege zijn no-nonsense houding en grote, sterke klank. En dat dit werkpaard de afgelopen decennia niet heeft stilgezeten zie je meteen! Rondom de brug valt meteen de grote patch op die in het bovenblad is aangebracht, en hierbij zijn ook een nieuwe brug en brugplaat aangebracht. Tevens zijn er reparaties uitgevoerd tussen het uiteinde van de toets en het klankgat, en is de gitaar voorzien van vervangende stemmechanieken.
Dat betekent zeker niet dat deze J45 zijn laatste klanken heeft laten horen. De typische smalle jaren '60 hals zorgt ervoor dat de gitaar een echte strummer is, en de mahonie klankkast produceert samen met het sparren bovenblad een prachtig droge en en volwassen klank die alleen ontstaat na jaren van spelen. Het bovenblad is zoals eerder benoemd niet meer in al te beste conditie, maar de klankkast en de hals bestaan uiteraard uit oud en ingespeeld hout. De avontuurlijke luthier kan deze J45 daarom mogelijk als basis voor een retop-project gebruiken, maar de gitaar is zoals hij nu is ook prima te bespelen. Als topartiesten zoals Willie Nelson en Glen Hansard uit de voeten kunnen met gitaren waar een deel van de top ontbreekt is deze J45 zeker goed genoeg om bespeeld te worden!
Omdat we inzien dat deze gitaar met wat extra werk nog wel verbeterd kan worden verkopen we hem in de staat waarin hij nu verkeert. De gitaar wordt geleverd in een koffer met TFOA paspoort.
Introduced in 1942 as a replacement for the J35, the J45 has since become one of Gibson's most popular acoustic flattops. The J45 earned a reputation as a ‘workhorse’ guitar and was embraced for its no-nonsense attitude and big, strong sound. And that this workhorse has not been idle over the past decades is immediately apparent! Around the bridge, you immediately notice the large patch that has been inserted into the top, and a new bridge and bridge plate have also been fitted with this. Repairs have also been made between the end of the fingerboard and the sound hole, and the guitar has been fitted with replacement tuning machines.
That certainly does not mean that this J45 has had its last sounds. The typical narrow 60s neck makes the guitar a real strummer, and the mahogany soundboard, together with the spruce top, produces a beautifully dry and and mature sound that only comes after years of playing. The top, as mentioned earlier, is no longer in overly great condition, but the soundboard and neck are obviously made of old and played-in wood. The adventurous luthier may therefore be able to use this J45 as the basis for a retop project, but the guitar is also fine to play as it is now. If world-class artists like Willie Nelson and Glen Hansard can get away with guitars where part of the top is missing, this J45 is certainly good enough to be played!
As we recognise that this guitar could be improved with some extra work, we offer this guitar in Sold as is-condition. The guitar comes in a hardshell case with TFOA passport.
Die J45 wurde 1942 als Ersatz für die J35 eingeführt und hat sich seitdem zu einer der beliebtesten akustischen Flattops von Gibson entwickelt. Die J45 erwarb sich den Ruf eines „Arbeitstiers“ und wurde für ihre No-Nonsense-Attitüde und ihren großen, starken Klang geschätzt. Und dass dieses Arbeitstier in den letzten Jahrzehnten nicht untätig war, ist sofort ersichtlich! Rund um den Steg fällt sofort der große Flicken auf, der in die Decke eingesetzt wurde, und auch ein neuer Steg und eine neue Stegplatte wurden damit ausgestattet. Auch zwischen dem Ende des Griffbretts und dem Schallloch wurden Reparaturen vorgenommen, und die Gitarre wurde mit neuen Stimmmechaniken ausgestattet.
Das heißt aber noch lange nicht, dass diese J45 ihre letzten Töne von sich gegeben hat. Der typische schmale 60er-Jahre-Hals macht die Gitarre zu einem echten Strummer, und die Mahagoni-Resonanzdecke erzeugt zusammen mit der Fichtendecke einen wunderbar trockenen und ausgereiften Klang, den man erst nach Jahren des Spielens bekommt. Die Decke ist, wie bereits erwähnt, nicht mehr in einem übermäßig guten Zustand, aber Decke und Hals sind offensichtlich aus altem und eingespieltem Holz. Der abenteuerlustige Gitarrenbauer kann diese J45 daher vielleicht als Grundlage für ein Retop-Projekt verwenden, aber die Gitarre ist auch so, wie sie jetzt ist, gut zu spielen. Wenn Weltklasse-Künstler wie Willie Nelson und Glen Hansard mit Gitarren auskommen, bei denen ein Teil der Decke fehlt, ist diese J45 sicherlich gut genug, um gespielt zu werden!
Da wir erkannt haben, dass diese Gitarre mit etwas zusätzlicher Arbeit verbessert werden könnte, bieten wir diese Gitarre in Sold as is condition an. Die Gitarre wird in einem Hartschalenkoffer mit TFOA-Pass geliefert.
