De HD-28V staat bekend om zijn warme, gebalanceerde klank, met krachtige bassen en sprankelende hoge tonen. Dankzij de forward-shifted scalloped bracing kan de top vrijer trillen, wat deze gitaar favoriet maakt bij zowel flatpickers als strummers. De modified V-hals vergt misschien wat gewenning, maar biedt een klassieke, comfortabele grip—vooral voor spelers die een vintage gevoel waarderen.
Rond 2018 stopte Martin met de productie van de HD-28V en verving deze door modellen zoals de Modern Deluxe en de Reimagined Series HD-28. Hoewel deze nieuwere versies enkele vintage elementen behouden, hebben ze een iets modernere halsprofiel.
Ondanks de stopzetting blijft de HD-28V zeer gewild op de tweedehandsmarkt vanwege zijn vintage klank, vakmanschap en pre-war styling. Martin discontinued the HD-28V around 2018, replacing it with models like the Modern Deluxe and Reimagined Series HD-28. While these newer versions retain some vintage elements, they feature a more modern neck profile.
Despite its discontinuation, the HD-28V remains highly sought-after on the used market due to its vintage tone, impeccable craftsmanship, and pre-war styling. This particular example is in excellent condition, showing only minor signs of playwear, including light scratches on the pickguard and two small dings on the top. The playability remains fantastic.
