Gibson SG Special Cherry Red 1974
De SG van Gibson is door de jaren heen uitgevoerd met diverse pickupconfiguraties; van de welbekende twee humbuckers tot aan een enkele single coil in de vorm van de Melody Maker. Deze SG Special uit het Norlin-tijdperk is uitgerust met twee mini-humbuckers die Gibson verwierf bij de aankoop van de Epiphone-fabriek, en de gitaar is verder nagenoeg identiek aan de SG Standards uit die tijd.
De mahonie body is afgewerkt in een Cherry Red-finish, en op de body prijkt een zwarte slagplaat. De gitaar is verder voorzien een kleine blokinleg op de palissander toets die zich bevindt op de mahonie hals met volute bij de headstock. De twee mini-humbuckers zijn origineel, net als de vier potmeters die te dateren zijn naar het jaar 1974. Naast de elektronica is de gitaar ook qua finish en hardware in originele staat gebleven.
Op de body en hals zijn speelsporen te vinden, maar deze zijn zoals te verwachten bij een instrument van 50 jaar oud. De gitaar is op en top vintage GIbson en zal niet misstaan in welke gitaarcollectie dan ook!

Gibson's SG has featured various pickup configurations over the years; from the well-known two humbuckers to a single single coil in the form of the Melody Maker. This Norlin-era SG Special is equipped with two mini-humbuckers that Gibson acquired when buying the Epiphone factory, and the guitar is otherwise almost identical to the SG Standards of the era.
The mahogany body is finished in a Cherry Red finish, and a black pickguard adorns the body. The guitar also features a small block inlay on the rosewood fingerboard that is located on the mahogany neck with volute near the headstock. The two mini-humbuckers are original, as are the four potentiometers that can be dated to 1974. Apart from the electronics, the guitar has also remained in original condition in terms of finish and hardware.
There are play marks on the body and neck, but these are as to be expected on a 50-year-old instrument. The guitar is thoroughly vintage Gibson and will not look out of place in any guitar collection!

Gibsons SG war im Laufe der Jahre mit verschiedenen Tonabnehmerkonfigurationen ausgestattet, von den bekannten zwei Humbuckern bis hin zu einem einzelnen Singlecoil in Form des Melody Maker. Diese SG Special aus der Norlin-Ära ist mit zwei Mini-Humbuckern ausgestattet, die Gibson beim Kauf der Epiphone-Fabrik erwarb, und die Gitarre ist ansonsten fast identisch mit den SG Standards der Ära.
Der Mahagonikorpus ist in Cherry Red lackiert, und ein schwarzes Schlagbrett ziert den Korpus. Die Gitarre hat auch eine kleine Blockeinlage auf dem Palisandergriffbrett, das sich auf dem Mahagonihals mit Volute in der Nähe der Kopfplatte befindet. Die beiden Mini-Humbucker sind original, ebenso wie die vier Potentiometer, die auf das Jahr 1974 datiert werden können. Abgesehen von der Elektronik ist die Gitarre auch in Bezug auf das Finish und die Hardware im Originalzustand geblieben.
Es gibt Spielspuren auf dem Korpus und dem Hals, aber diese sind bei einem 50 Jahre alten Instrument zu erwarten. Die Gitarre ist durch und durch eine Vintage-Gibson und würde in keiner Gitarrensammlung fehl am Platz wirken!
