In the last weekend of February, we have a very exclusive songwriting weekend planned! You will get no less than 4 workshops from not one, but two well-known Dutch songwriters! None other than Matthijn Buwalda and Stephanie Struijk will take you through all facets of songwriting. They will share with you their processes, do's and don'ts and experience in writing catchy, beautiful songs.
Don't panic, you don't have to have a big repertoire yourself yet, this weekend is suitable for songwriters of all levels!
The workshops will be held in our shop in Dedemsvaart, but during the weekend you will also stay at another special location: the Watertoren in Lutten. You will stay overnight at this unique location and breakfast/dinner is also included in the price.
In other words: an amazing, unique experience in beautiful Dedemsvaart and Lutten you'll want to attend! There are a limited number of places available so claim your ticket quickly.
Matthijn Buwalda
Since 2006, singer/songwriter Matthijn Buwalda has been on the road with his Dutch-language songs, and more and more people are discovering his music, which can best be described as a cross between kleinkunst and Nederpop. Musical collaborations with Stef Bos, Stephanie Struijk and Jan Smit, among others, show Matthijn's versatility as a writer as well as a singer. He also won the Buma cultuurprijs/Zilveren Duif award in the Best Song category in 2015. In 2024, Matthijn took part in the television programme Best Singers.
The Algemeen Dagblad wrote about Matthijn: ‘There are few singers who can sing straight into your heart with Dutch-language repertoire. Matthijn Buwalda is such a person.'
Stephanie Struijk
Stephanie Struijk writes personal stories in songs. You may remember her under the name ‘Stevie Ann’, when she released her debut album at the age of 18, with which she performed at Pinkpop, among others. Her new album is called ‘Dezelfde Zon’ and is her third Dutch-language studio album.
Fully in line with the Roots/Americana genre within which Stephanie moves, the songs on Same Sun were recorded in one take. This was done in a traditional ‘thirties’ way; direct playback, with no cutting and pasting afterwards.

Program:
Friday: Gather at 19:30 at Watertower Lutten. This evening we will get to know each other and our songwriters over drinks.

Saturday: 3 workshops at The Fellowship of Acoustics in Dedemsvaart. There will be a communal dinner at the end of the day and in the evening there will be free time to, for example, put into practice what was learned and make music together.
Sunday: Breakfast will be followed by the final workshop after which we will close together. Afterwards, there will be time to make music together, ask your final questions, continue working on your song or walk through the shop.
