We have been a very happy Eastman dealer for years, because this luthier knows what today’s guitarplayers want: cool looks, great sound, awesome playability and reasonably priced. That's exactly what Eastman offers. If you are looking for an acoustic or electric guitar: Eastman is always worth a try.
Eastman usually dips in guitar history to create models that are inspired by the classics of other well-known luthiers, but Eastman always adds something different and extra to these classics, giving it a clear character of their own. And now Eastman introduces a completely new design with the Juliet!
“The brightness of those cheeks would shame those stars” Romeo
The Juliet has a unique offset body with a headstock designed by Otto D'Ambrossio sporting six tuners in a row and that is a first for Eastman. Eastman previously presented the Romeo as their take on a sublime hollowbody guitar and this Juliet is the beautiful solidbody counterpart to complete this legendary couple
The body and neck are Okume and that tonewood makes these guitars very resonant, lightweight and crystal clear. The hand-designed pickguard does not lie on the body, but is beautifully recessed into it for optimal ease of play. The pickups are Bear Knuckle P-90 or Humbuckers, each carrying their own volume control. There are three colors to choose from:
"It's the east, and Juliet is the sun” Romeo
Vintage Red
“My bounty is as boundless as the sea” Juliet
Pomona Blond
This finish deserves it's own little story. It started out with our own Marc van Veldhuisen asking Eastman if it would be possible to make a guitar with a 'Desert Sand' finish. Eastman rested on this idea for a while but ultimately decided to use it for their new (and first) solid body line-up. Due to 'Desert Sand' already being in use and the unappealing ring of a 'Fieldhouse Blonde' finish, they eventually named it after their LA HQ in Pomona.
Antique Black Varnish + een Bigsby Tremolo.
Very seductive!
The specs are impressive, but how does that Juliet sound and feel? The Fellowship of Acoustics was one of the first to get hold of this scoop and we love them! The first thing you notice when you hold Juliet in your arms is the weight, which is around three kilos and that is so light that it is reminiscent of a (partly) hollowbody. The guitar is well balanced and the body has all the right curves in all the right places for a lot of comfort. Add to that a neatly finished neck with flawless fret work and this Juliet indeed offers a bounty that is as limitless as the sea. The humbucker and the P90 pick ups may be reminiscent of the well-known Gibson models, the neck feels more like a Fender with a scale length (scale length) of 25.5 inches.Eastman succeeded in making a unique guitar with a lot of pizzazz, but without the wieght and unwieldiness that sometimes comes with comparable guitars. This is just a very refined and seductive all-rounder!
