The Leif de Leeuw Band is often labeled as the southern jam band of Europe. Led by Leif de Leeuw, who was voted Benelux's best blues rock guitarist seven times in a row, and featuring Sem Jansen, winner of the TV show Hit the Road, the band offers an impressive live experience. The shows are known for their energetic, spontaneous nature with extended guitar solos, dueling drummers and intense Hammond sounds, where improvisation is central and the songs unfold like strong stories.
The band's six members have built an international reputation over a decade. They have made successful tours of Europe, the United States and even China, establishing themselves as a force in the blues and southern rock scene.
Leif and Sem invited us to their show at Metropole, and we immediately seized the opportunity to record a special podcast episode with both of them! We set up our podcast equipment in the small venue and got into a conversation with Leif and Sem about everything involved in preparing for live shows. The conversation delved into tour life with the Leif de Leeuw Band and the choices around gear and setlists that go into each show.
At the end of the podcast, Leif and Sem give a full Rig Rundown of their gear. They show all the guitars they brought, their amps, and, of course, their pedalboards. So stay tuned until the end for this exclusive look at Leif and Sem's setups in this special podcast episode!
