Trade In & Consignment
At TFOA we always want to give you the opportunity to trade in your old guitar when purchasing your dream guitar!
If you want to trade in a guitar, know that you can always send us an email, an Instagram DM, a Facebook private message or just give us a call. However, the easiest option is to fill in the form on this page, and we'll get back to you as soon as possible!
We have a few trade-in rules:
- Trade-ins are possible with a minimum purchase value of €1500;
- We only trade in quality instruments and always reserve the right to refuse a trade-in;
- We do not trade in consignment guitars or discounted products;
- We do not trade in amplifiers and (digital) equipment;
- Ideally, we prefer to trade 1 to 1. We use about 75% of the selling price as the trade-in value.
We can sell your instrument on consignment or buy it from you in consultation. We only accept guitars on consignment that:
- Are interesting for us to offer;
- Have a good price/quality ratio;
- Have a minimum sales value of €4000.
The consignment commission also covers all other costs. To give you an insight into the costs, we have provided an overview below of the costs we incur along the way:
- Payments for credit card, PayPal, (approx. 2 to 4%)
- Use of third-party websites such as Reverb (approx. 8%)
- Packaging (approx. €20,-)
- Shipping costs (approx. €20 to €250)
- Finally, the processing costs (minimum €300). On average, the operating costs for a guitar are around €300 to go through our entire process. This includes registering and labelling, restringing and set-up, photographing, describing and preparing for shipment. The sales process and other operating costs are not included.
We charge €300 of these costs if the guitar is not sold.
For each sale price, we charge the following consignment commission percentages:
Sell prices till: |
Consignment commission % ** |
€10.000,- |
25% |
€50.000,- |
20% |
€100.000,00 (and higher) |
18% |
**Costs that are charged to the consignor:
- Repair costs (other than regular adjustment costs) are not included in the consignment commission. We always try to communicate this in advance with the consignor, but sometimes we have to perform a repair on-site during a store sale.
- Processing costs of €300, as explained above. NOTE: These are only charged when the guitar is taken back by the consignor.
Payments for consignments will take place after the 30-day right of return period. Exception: When a commissioned instrument is sold with cosmetic or technical issues that extend the legal right of return, payment may be extended until all parties are satisfied.
We also buy guitars if they are interesting to us. Roughly the same rules apply as for consignment. Please contact us for the final trade-in value of the instrument.
Trade-in, consignment or purchase only becomes final when we confirm that the guitar has been received in good order.

At The Fellowship of Acoustics, we understand that knowing the value of your guitars is essential for both insurance and resale purposes. Our specialists are ready to assist you in appraising your instruments, so you can make informed decisions with confidence.
For an individual appraisal, we charge a flat fee of €100 per guitar. If you have multiple guitars to appraise, we offer an attractive rate for group appraisals. For the first guitar, you will pay a starting fee of €100, and for each additional guitar, you will only pay 50% of that amount. This means that the second guitar will cost you just €50, and the same applies to all subsequent guitars.
With our expertise and passion for music, we ensure that you receive an accurate and fair valuation. Contact us for more information or to schedule an appointment. Let us help you discover the value of your guitars!
