Moritz Sattler OM Old Style Brazilian Rosewood European Spruce 1990

​Moritz Christian Sattler is een zeer hoog aangeschreven gitaarbouwer uit Duitsland, en staat bekend om zijn ongekende oog voor detail en perfectie. Nadat Sattler onder zijn eigen naam bouwde richtte hij in 1993 samen met Manfred Pietrzok Manzanita Guitars op, en werkte aldaar tot en met 2000. Tegenwoordig is Sattler in dienst bij Lakewood Guitars waar hij samen met Martin Seeliger nog steeds het hoogste op gitaarbouwgebied nastreeft.

Deze Old Style OM is een gitaar uit de eerstgenoemde periode in de gitaarbouwcarrière van Sattler, en de gitaar werd in juli van 1990 door hem voltooid. Sattler heeft zich op het gebied van houtsoorten niet ingehouden voor deze prachtige gitaar, want met een klankkast van Braziliaans palissander en een bovenblad van Europees sparren zit het op dat gebied wel goed! De tekening van het palissander is indrukwekkend, en ook de subtiele bearclaw in het bovenblad mag er zeker zijn.

De ivoroid binding en herringbone purfling geven de body samen met de ingetogen rozet en tortoise slagplaat wat extra uitstraling, en ook hier valt de precisie van de details meteen op. De mahonie hals met V-profiel heeft een ebben toets met een 16 inch radius en bar frets, en dit geeft de gitaar een zeer traditioneel speelgevoel. Sattler laat de pracht van de palissander kopplaat voor zichzelf spreken, want hij heeft deze vrijgehouden van een logo.

De gitaar heeft een heerlijk open en ingespeelde sound, en is ook opvallend licht van gewicht. Door de scalloped X-bracing die het midden houdt tussen forward shifted en standaard heeft de gitaar warm geluid met een prettige basrespons die goed gebalanceerd is met het hoog en midden. De gitaar is hierdoor zeer veelzijdig, want hij kan moeiteloos overweg met zowel fingerstyle als strumming.

De gitaar wordt met CITES en TFOA paspoort geleverd in een koffer van Meinel.

Moritz Christian Sattler is a very highly regarded luthier from Germany, and is known for his unparalleled eye for detail and perfection. After building under his own name, Sattler founded Manzanita Guitars with Manfred Pietrzok in 1993, and worked there until 2000. Nowadays, Sattler is employed by Lakewood Guitars where, together with Martin Seeliger, he continues to pursue the highest in guitar building.


This Old Style OM is a guitar from the former period in Sattler's guitar-making career, and the guitar was completed by him in July of 1990. Sattler did not hold back when it came to wood types for this beautiful guitar, because with a soundbox made of Brazilian rosewood and a top made of European spruce, things are fine in that area! The pattern of the rosewood is impressive, and the subtle bearclaw in the top is also very impressive.


The ivoroid binding and herringbone purfling, together with the subdued rosette and tortoise pickguard, add some extra appeal to the body, and here too, the precision of the details is immediately apparent. The V-profile mahogany neck has an ebony fingerboard with a 16-inch radius and bar frets, and this gives the guitar a very traditional playing feel. Sattler lets the beauty of the rosewood headstock plate speak for itself, as he has kept it free of a logo.


The guitar has a wonderfully open and played-in sound, and is also remarkably lightweight. Thanks to the scalloped X-bracing that falls somewhere between forward shifted and standard, the guitar has warm sound with a pleasant bass response that is well balanced with the highs and mids. This makes the guitar very versatile, as it handles both fingerstyle and strumming effortlessly.


The guitar comes with CITES and TFOA passport in a hardshell case from Meinel.

Nachdem er unter seinem eigenen Namen gebaut hatte, gründete Sattler 1993 zusammen mit Manfred Pietrzok Manzanita Guitars, wo er bis 2000 arbeitete. Heute ist Sattler bei Lakewood Guitars angestellt, wo er zusammen mit Martin Seeliger weiterhin die höchsten Ansprüche im Gitarrenbau verfolgt.


Diese Old Style OM ist eine Gitarre aus der früheren Periode in Sattlers Gitarrenbaukarriere, und die Gitarre wurde von ihm im Juli 1990 fertiggestellt. Sattler hat sich bei der Wahl der Hölzer für diese schöne Gitarre nicht zurückgehalten, denn mit einem Resonanzkörper aus brasilianischem Palisander und einer Decke aus europäischer Fichte ist man in diesem Bereich gut aufgestellt! Die Maserung des Palisanderholzes ist beeindruckend, und auch die subtile Bärenklaue in der Decke ist sehr beeindruckend.


Das Elfenbeinbinding und die Fischgrät-Einfassung verleihen dem Korpus zusammen mit der dezenten Rosette und dem Schildpatt-Schlagbrett zusätzlichen Reiz, und auch hier fällt die Präzision der Details sofort auf. Der Mahagoni-Hals mit V-Profil hat ein Ebenholz-Griffbrett mit einem 16-Zoll-Radius und Balkenbünden, was der Gitarre ein sehr traditionelles Spielgefühl verleiht. Sattler lässt die Schönheit der Kopfplatte aus Palisander für sich selbst sprechen, denn er hat sie frei von einem Logo gehalten.


Die Gitarre hat einen wunderbar offenen und eingespielten Klang und ist zudem bemerkenswert leicht. Dank des Scalloped X-Bracing, das irgendwo zwischen Forward Shifted und Standard liegt, hat die Gitarre einen warmen Klang mit einer angenehmen Basswiedergabe, die gut mit den Höhen und Mitten ausgeglichen ist. Dies macht die Gitarre sehr vielseitig, da sie sowohl Fingerstyle als auch Strumming mühelos beherrscht.


Die Gitarre wird mit CITES- und TFOA-Pass in einem Hartschalenkoffer von Meinel geliefert.
