Neck Reset
Guitars are constantly under tension and can warp over time, making them play much worse. That problem can be solved with a neck reset. In The Fellowship's workshop, we have performed dozens of neck resets and we compare it more to a tyre change in the pit lane: after that, you can go full throttle through the corner again!
So if you have any doubts about a neck reset: don't worry! You really will get a much better and more valuable guitar in return. Besides, we only perform this job when the luthier has determined that a neck reset really is the solution.
How much time a neck reset takes varies by brand and neck joint. In general, a neck reset of a Taylor takes less time than that of a Martin guitar. In all cases, it is a bigger job that requires leaving the guitar with us.
As every neck reset is different, we give a personalised quote in advance. Want to know if your guitar needs a neck reset? Then get in touch with us.
Make An AppointmentCrack Repair
From the common ‘pickguard crack’, to the ‘centre seam’, to a crack in the neck or at the headstock; cracks come in different shapes and sizes. Luckily, our luthiers know how to repair them all!
A crack in your guitar does not only happen to you by dropping it or during transport, but can also be caused by differences in temperature and humidity. Depending on the location and size, these cracks can often be repaired nicely. Sometimes even so well that the spot of mischief is barely visible. Feel free to contact us and we will be happy to help.
The latter is mainly the case with ‘cosmetic cracks’: these cracks can be seen, but do not endanger the construction and playability. These cracks can usually be resealed and filled with glue or wood powder, for instance. The ‘structural cracks’ are in places where they do affect the construction of the guitar. For instance, a centre seam or crack on the headstock. To repair these properly, they are often strengthened with ‘cleats’, small pieces of wood placed under the crack, in addition to gluing. If possible, we also touch up the lacquer layer again to restore the whole thing as neatly as possible. However, lacquer is very labour-intensive work and takes time.
So, how much work and time a crack repair will take varies from situation to situation. Therefore, we will prepare a specific quote for you in advance. Feel free to contact us and we will be happy to help you!

Refret
While playing, the strings make direct contact with the frets. So it is not surprising that after a lot of use, the frets will wear out. Depending on your playing style, this will happen faster on some guitars than on others.
If there is a lot of wear on the frets, like dents, and you don't intend to play on a ‘fretless wonder’, then your guitar is due for a refret. This is not as simple as ‘old frets out, new ones in’. Care must be taken not to damage the fretboard. The radius of the fretboard must also be taken into account and the correct ‘fret wire’ must be used.
In addition, many guitars have a binding around the fingerboard. Often this is plastic, but sometimes it is made of wood. The binding may even be over the edges of the frets. In that case, it takes more time and work to replace the frets. This is why we charge different prices based on the specific fretboard.
So to keep your guitar in optimal playing condition, a refret is a common part of maintenance. Our luthiers have already changed countless frets and make sure you can play again with enough ‘meat’ on your shiny frets.
